'NCIS' season 14 spoilers news: Premiere title revealed, new female agent joins team
Top-rating police procedural "NCIS" will return this fall for its landmark 14th season, and a new female agent has been confirmed to join the team.
Former "Blue Bloods" star Jennifer Esposito is the latest addition to the long-running CBS procedural and she will play the role of Special Agent Alex Quinn. After a stint as an instructor, Agent Quinn returns to the field and joins the NCIS team headed by Gibbs.
In a press statement, "NCIS" executive producer Gary Glasberg expressed his happiness over Esposito being part of the cast. "We couldn't be happier to have Jennifer Esposito joining us for season 14," he said. "She embodies everything that we hoped for in the character of Quinn and we can't wait to have her come be a part of our team."
According to USA Today, the 43-year-old previously decided to quit "Blue Bloods" when CBS did not allow her to have a reduced schedule due to her medical condition. Esposito is suffering from Celiac disease, an "autoimmune disorder characterized by extreme gluten sensitivity and fatigue." The actress mentioned that during that time, the network had her career in limbo after being put in leave of absence and not being permitted to work anywhere else.
Meanwhile, newcomer Wilmer Valderrama recently revealed the premiere title for the upcoming season through a Twitter post. Episode 1 is titled "Rogue," and it might be a reference to his yet-to-be-named character who is an old agent re-joining the team after being in an undercover mission for years. He finally resurfaces to work alongside Gibbs (Mark Harmon), but the veteran agent might have issues with him back in the force since he is known as an "unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon."
Duane Henry, who portrayed the role of an MI6 agent in season 13, will join newcomers Esposito and Valderrama after being promoted as a series regular.
Tune in to the season 14 premiere of "NCIS" which airs on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
