'New Girl' season 6 episode 5 spoilers: Lofties help fix the Schmidts' lovenest; Jess votes for Nick's happiness

After a mostly disastrous trip to New York that ended on a positive note thanks to a limo ride courtesy of self-proclaimed men of means, Nick (Jake Johnson) and Winston (Lamorne Morris), the L.A.-based friends are back home for Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece's (Hannah Simone) house renovation project in the next episode of "New Girl."

In episode 5 of FOX's comedy series, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and the rest of the lofties lend a hand to newlyweds Schmidt and Cece in putting in order the fixer-upper they bought in the premiere episode. It seems like an easy enough task, except that in the preview posted by FOX, it looks like nothing's turning out right.

Jess has trouble tearing off old wallpaper. She looks like she's attempting to pull the whole thing off the wall in one go, but instead ends up ripping off a mere portion of it. A pensive Nick cleaning the floor looks like he would really rather be somewhere else. Perhaps he's thinking about being with his girl in New Orleans?

According to a brief synopsis on TV Guide, Jess will be leading a vote that could eventually let Nick's long-distance girlfriend, Reagan (Megan Fox) move back in with them at the loft. It seems that Jess has decided to keep her lingering feelings for her ex to herself to make way for his happiness. But is this really what Nick would have wanted?

Things will presumably pick up when Nick and Winston make a revealing discovery, although it's unclear whether it concerns the house or Jess. Is the old house harboring a secret, or will Nick finally find out that Jess is still in love with him?

On the other hand, it looks like Schmidt and Cece will initially be at odds over what to do with and put in their house, but will soon learn the art and benefits of a good compromise.

The episode titled, "Jaipur Aviv" will air on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on FOX.
