NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti release date, news, specs rumors: Upcoming NVIDIA graphics card more powerful than Pascal Titan X?

Nvidia is currently working on the GTX 1080 Ti, which some speculate will be announced at the CES 2017 | GeForce

After NVIDIA's successful launching of the new GTX 10 series GPUs based on the Pascal architecture, it is rumored that the OEM has one more powerful graphics card waiting to be unveiled. If the latest rumors are anything to go by, NVIDIA's newest GTX 1080 Ti video card will be released early next year.

It is rumored that the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 this January. Furthermore, it is expected that the GTX 1080 Ti will be boasting the same features of the recently released GTX 1080, and the powerful Pascal Titan X. Still, the upcoming Pascal GPU is expected to have improved specs of its own compared to its predecessors.

According to Yibada, the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti will be a few steps back in terms of CUDA cores and GPU, but all in all, it is expected to have a better performance compared to the previous Pascal GPUs, including the Pascal Titan X that is considered to be a high-tier product in the series.

To compare, the rumored TMUs for the GTX 1080 Ti is around 208, much lower than the 224 TMUs of the Pascal Titan X. Likewise, the GTX 1080 Ti will have lower CUDA cores with 3,328, quite lower compared to that of the Pascal Titan X, as reported by Digital Trends.

However, one thing that separates the GTX 1080 Ti's performance from the rest is its impressive memory clock. It is rumored to boast a memory clock as powerful as 1,251MHz, quite higher than those already released by NVIDIA this year. The GPU is also reported to be powered by Pascal P104-400-A1 supported by 8GB GFFR5X and 256-bit memory, allowing the users to enjoy higher frame rates.

While the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti will be boasting features better than the Pascal Titan X, it is not expected to be as expensive. The upcoming Pascal video card is a top-tier GPU like the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070, so it is also expected to be quite pricey. To be exact, the GTX 1080 Ti will cost a little bit higher than the GTX 1050 Ti's $140.
