It was reported by Game N Guide that Toonami has finally confirmed the release date of "One Punch Man" Season 2. The announcement happened during Toonami's Anime Expo last July 1st. Moreover, the anime series is expected to return with all-new episodes and adventures in October this year. With Toonami finally confirming the air date of "One Punch Man" Season 2, the previous rumors about the upcoming season getting delayed have finally been cleared up.

As for the possible new villain in the second season, the online publication reported that Garou might be shaping up as the next big bad guy of the series. Garou is known to be the former student of S-Class hero Silver Fang, although his tainted views about the Earths superheroes may lead him to the dark side. As the second season is also rumored to cover the manga's Hero Hunter arc, Garou going against the heroes might also be featured in the series.

The previous rumors suggested that the anime version of "One Punch Man" will be delayed as the TV series still lacks source material from the original "One Punch Man" manga series from One manga. However, "One Punch Man" creator Yusuke Murata already revealed that he and his team have already been updating the latest chapters of the manga. In fact, there is already a sufficient number of source materials that the second season of the anime series could be released in October.

There are also reports that "One Punch Man" Season 2 will be composed of more than 12 episodes. The first season premiered with 12 episodes, and the possible extended episodes of Season 2 is due to various contents in the manga version that the anime series can still cater to show. One of the possible story arcs that can be included in the anime is the civil war arc among the Earth's most powerful heroes. Specifically, the "One Punch Man" own version of civil war will involve the members of Hero Association and the Hero Hunter group.
