Persona 5 release date rumors: Features new weapons and characters?

Still with no release date in sight, gamers are aching to get their hands on one of the most awaited video games of the year: Persona 5. Not long ago, Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka promised the fans of the franchise that a summer release is in order. A lot of people assumed that the sequel to the company's blockbuster game series will arrive in May, but Atlus remains to be keeping the lid on a confirmed launch date.

Nonetheless, Persona 5 fans will definitely have a lot to chew on, with the rumor mill currently buzzing about new weapons and characters. According to a report by N4BB, compared to the previous installments, speculations suggest that all other characters in Persona 5 characters might now have the ability to carry and use weapons.

In a report by Siliconera, Persona 5 designer Katsura Hashino gave some hints on what fans should expect in their latest endeavor. "For this game, we're going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance. In the previous game, we wrote a story that involved having a justice group chase down a bad guy that could easily be feared by just about anyone," he said.

Hashino further discussed the storyline of the game by saying, "This time, it's about a group of high school students that are being 'chased' by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We're writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting."

Initially released in 1996, the Persona game franchise has garnered a wide following in the gaming world. Once released, Persona 5 will be available to both Play Station 3 and Play Station 4. As of the moment, Atlus has not yet given a definitive release date.
