Although there are still several months left before "Prison Break" season 5 premieres, fans are already hoping for the limited series to be renewed for season 6.

With only nine episodes in the revival, fans of the drama want to see more of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and company especially now that they are back after the original series wrapped up in 2009.

Miller recently spoke to Digital Spy to talk about what to expect "Prison Break" season 5. There, he was also asked about the possibility of a season 6 renewal.

"Depending on how it's received, and who's available, there could be another conversation about another bite of the apple," the actor said, teasing "We'll see."

The writers of the show are also open to going beyond "Prison Break" season 5. Like what Miller said, it is all about how it does in the ratings, and this might not be a problem at all.

In a research made by analytics firm ListenFirst Media last September, "Prison Break" was deemed the most highly-anticipated series. It was talked about in social media 19.5 million times from May to August.

"The numbers show that Prison Break's return to air is met with fervor from fans who have been missing the show for years," ListenFirst Media co-CEO and co-founder Jason Klein told Independent UK.

It sounds like millions of fans will be tuning in to the premiere of "Prison Break" season 5. If the season opener holds up, the revival should have no problem having the same fans who watch the first episode to stick with it up to the ninth and final episode.

There is great confidence in "Prison Break" season 5 to perform as the elements that fans loved about it will be present in addition to necessary changes brought by time.

Scofield once again needs to be broken out of prison and this time, he is in Yemen and that international concerns are at play. Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) will lead the mission to save his brother.

"I can tell you it's seven years later, and you can expect a lot more of the same things that you loved first time around," Miller teased.

"And it will also be quite different as the characters have changed, so my character in particular is no longer just a hero—he's a few other things as well. I think the fans will get a kick out of it," he added.

"Prison Break" season 5 will premiere spring 2017 on Fox.
