'Project Runway' season 15 air date, plot spoilers: Premiere preshow special; first challenge goes 'out of control'

"Project Runway" season 15 premiered Sept. 15. Fans were able to prepare for the show's big return by watching the one-hour long preseason episode titled "Road to Runway."

This special introduced this year's crop of talented aspiring designers, who gave viewers a look at their homes and closets to show a bit more about themselves before the competition begins.

With regards to the official premiere of "Project Runway" season 5, the Twitter account of the show teased that "things are getting a little out of control."

After Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn welcomed the 16 designers competing this season at a launch party, which made the group extremely ecstatic and star struck, they immediately give the contestants their first challenge.

The "Project Runway" season 15 hopefuls were tasked to design a look using the decorations at the party as the materials, which included balloons, flowers and other colorful decors.

The contestants were shocked learning their challenge immediately begins (one was worried the two glasses of champagne he gulped beforehand will affect how he does).They were even more surprised about the nature of the task.

The "Project Runway" season 15 contestants were only given five minutes to collect their materials for the challenge and from this chaos ensued as they started to run around and grab everything they deem will help them put together an amazing design.

Two contestants were seen in the "Project Runway" season 15 preview in a tug of war for the flowers. Klum and Gunn were definitely stunned at the mayhem.

Gunn reminds them that this will be the chance for them to make an impression on the judges and advises them to be "true to who you are as a designer" for this challenge.

"Project Runway" season 15 premiered at 9 p.m. EDT on Sept 15. It was preceded by "Road to Runway" at 8 p.m. EDT.
