'Reign' season 4 spoilers, cast news: Mary's third husband cast

Adelaide Kane as Queen Mary in "Reign" | The CW

Mary's (Adelaide Kane) third husband joins "Reign" season 4 in the person of Adam Croasdell. The "EastEnders" alum will play the role of Bothwell.

As history dictates, Bothwell becomes the third husband of Mary. He is described as a "warm-hearted bad boy" who will do his best to win Mary's heart. Here's a look at Croasdell:

Croasdell will appear in three episodes of "Reign" season 4, but has the option to appear on more. This is the same for his fellow newcomer Will Kemp, who was tapped to play the role of Mary's second husband Lord Darnley.

"Reign" season 4 will be a rollercoaster ride for Mary in terms of relationships. After losing her husband, Francis (Toby Regbo), Mary struggles to move on but still goes on to find love again.

This second chance will be given to her by Lord Darnley. Unfortunately, as written in the history books, he will be murdered one year into their marriage, but not before the couple had a child.

With that, Mary will have to deal with one more heartbreak and will once again have to live through the pain of losing someone so close to her.

Thankfully, she has their child to help her get through. Despite this tragedy, Mary will push on and bring romance back to her life. This brings Bothwell into the picture.

In real-life, Bothwell was accused of murdering someone close to Mary. It is a mystery if this will be tackled in "Reign" season 4 as Croasdell is only signed up for three episodes at the moment.

However, this might be the key for him to extend his stay. The same goes for Kemp, whose character's history with Mary especially with the involvement of a kid could also make for more "Reign" season 4 episodes.

"Reign" season 4 will premiere on The CW sometime next year. The delay reportedly has something to do with the show avoiding being pitted against "Game of Thrones."
