"Rick and Morty" creators Dan Harmon and Justin Rolland have reportedly already announced a December release for the show's third season.

In addition, writers Sarah Carbiener and Erica Rosbe recently confirmed that season 3 is "imminent." In an interview on the "Chicks Who Script" podcast, the two revealed that "Rick and Morty" season 3 is almost complete and that material for the next episodes have already been submitted to Bardel Entertainment.

The two clarified that they don't know when they will get the script back from the studio but said that a screening will be held soon.

As for the plot of "Rick and Morty" season 3, Harmon revealed in an interview with Slash Film that they may veer away from the show's "Interdimensional Cable" storyline. According to him, the storyline is very rough on the show's production and the episodes are difficult to make.

Since it debuted in 2013, the Annie Award-nominated series has received critical acclaim and become one of the most talked-about animated sitcoms of today.

Though fans are still waiting for Adult Swim to confirm the release date for the new season, the report that "Rick and Morty" season 3 is imminent has made them hopeful for a December release — a perfect Christmas treat.

Meanwhile, Variety reported that YouTube Red is coming out with a sitcom led by Harmon.

The outlet said that the series, which remains untitled, will be a half-hour scripted comedy about a newly formed team of eSports players attempting to make it big in the world of competitive gaming. The show will star Dan Avidan and Arin Hanson of the "Game Grumps" webseries.

"Rick and Morty" season 3 is currently without an official release date but is expected out this December.
