'Rizzoli & Isles' season 7 spoilers: Mystery and fun combine to give what fans want as series nears its end

A vital piece of evidence goes missing the morning of a big murder trial. | TNT

"Rizzoli & Isles" season 7 may be the last one for the series, but it looks like everyone behind the show is bent on sustaining the hype up until the final episode.

The historic 100th episode of "Rizzoli & Isles" titled "2M7258-100" saw Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) going undercover in a county jail to solve a double homicide case. Her stint in prison, fake as it was, seemed to portend danger for the detective, and the fact that her brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) warned her that she could get killed inside only underscored the threat. (Trivia: The title episode, which is Jane's prison number, is actually the combination of the episode's production code, 2M7258, and the episode number, 100.)

Apparently, Jane had to go undercover to solve a case involving the death of two bikers who belong to the Lords of Thunder gang. Two foster sisters, one of which was in a relationship with one of the victims, could have witnessed the crime. However, rather than cooperate with the investigation, one of the girls opted to serve jail time for violating parole, which was why Jane had to go undercover.

Jane was able to gain the girl's trust while in prison, thereby getting her to spill what she knew about the murder. A sting operation was set up to catch the killer, another biker, and the girl and her foster sister were put into the witness protection program afterwards.

Monday's episode is the ninth out of a 13-episode season. Titled "65 Hours," the episode promises to be just what the doctor ordered for fans of the show – a little bit of mystery with a significant dose of fun, according to Carter Matt.

The episode would see Jane preparing to attend a big murder trial, but there's a hitch. A piece of evidence that could make or break the case is missing or might have been snatched away. Now Jane would have to figure out what happened before it's too late.

If Jane can't find the missing evidence, she would have to look for another way to prove that the case is solved. It would be worth anticipating how Jane would go about searching for the missing evidence, even as some wild twists could be expected along the way.

Moreover, a side plot would be devoted to Frankie and Nina (Idara Victor). It looks like Frankie would discover that Nina is into magic, and he would try to do what he can to impress her with some magic of his own. It remains to be seen if Frankie's plan would go as expected.
