The second season of CW's highly popular DC superhero TV series "The Flash" has been thrilling the viewers with action-packed sequences and shocking revelations every episode. The new chapter in the life of the super speedster Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash (played by Grant Gustin) involves much about the Earth-2 and all the other characters living in the alternate world. The source of suspense this season, however, is the sinister speedster from Earth-2 named Zoom which was seen terrorizing the good guys of Earth-1. The 18th episode of Season 2 will finally reveal more details about the shady character and the much-awaited rematch of the villain and The Flash.

"The Flash" Season 2 opened up with the revelation of the existence of another version of Earth. The portal connecting the Earth that we have always known since the beginning of the show and the alternate Earth known as "Earth-2" was opened up when last season's villain The Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne (played by Matt Letscher) was erased from existence upon the death of his ancestor in the present timeline. Being a character existing in the future, he disintegrated in thin air as if he never actually existed and created a paradox, thus letting two alternate worlds to connect.

Unfortunately for Barry and his team, they were found by the big bad villain of Earth-2, Zoom, and the latter was proven to possess speed much superior to Barry's capabilities. In order to defeat Zoom, he was seen finding ways to increase his speed throughout Season 2 in hopes that one day, he can finally take out the shady masked murderer. In Episode 18 entitled "Versus Zoom," Barry finally have finally gained much-needed speed boost, thanks to the speed enhancing formula of the Earth-2 Harrison Wells (played by Tom Cavanagh). He will now come face to face with Zoom, who was revealed to be a familiar face all along.

Zoom was revealed to be a look-alike of Jay Garrick (both played by Teddy Sears). Jay was one of the meta-humans from Earth-2 and he is, in fact, "The Flash" of the alternate world. He became a close friend of Earth-1's The Flash and worked together to defeat Zoom. In a particular scene, Jay was apparently killed by Zoom, but the more shocking moment is when Zoom took off his mask and revealed that he looks exactly like Jay.

Sears had an interview with Comic Book and he was asked about him taking the role of a good character like Jay Garrick, and yet being revealed as the same actor behind the mysterious Zoom.

" I knew when they hired me that I was going to be Zoom. I knew actually before taking the job. Andrew Kreisberg ("The Flash" executive producer) laid out, "Hey, this is our vision for the season. You're gonna be this guy, but then you're also gonna be this guy," Sears explained.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kreisberg teased that Barry/The Flash will have to make decisions in order to take down an overpowering character like Zoom in the upcoming episode. No one knows if Barry will finally have the needed speed and strength to defeat Zoom, or if Zoom will have more tricks up his sleeve to reign victorious.
