The Mikaelsons were left powerless when "The Originals" wrapped up its third season, and viewers hope to see the original vampire family back on their feet once season 4 airs next year.
The season 3 finale saw the first time in the show's history that all members of the Mikaelsons are incapacitated at the same time, and it will clearly lay the groundwork for what lies ahead once the show returns. Since the family no longer has control over New Orleans, so Marcel grabs the opportunity to take over. Most fans theorize that Hope is the family's last chance to defeat Marcel, and her growth might be seen in the fourth season's time jump.
"It's almost mandatory that there be some sort of time jump," executive producer Michael Narducci explained to Yahoo! TV. "This is a definitive loss on the part of the Mikaelsons. The prophecy predicted they would fall, and they fell. There's no easy way out of the situation they're in. Hayley and Marcel are both going to have to start from scratch as he decides how he's going to deal all these new vampires in town."
If there is another person who can go head-to-head with Marcel, it would be Vincent. Given Vincent's brains and power, he might succeed in taking Marcel and his vampires down. In an interview with TV Guide, Narducci mentioned that Vincent will do what he thinks is right, even if it means fighting or siding with anyone. "Vincent's (Yusuf Gatewood) job as the kind of sheriff—as the leader of the witches, as the person who believes in doing right by the city of New Orleans... "
The EP further explained that Vincent's position as a leader will affect his decision on whom he will side with. "He's going to protect the city of New Orleans and if that means siding with Marcel, then great. If that means that he's got to stand against Marcel, he'll do that as well," Narducci added.
Will Marcel finally find his match? Stay tuned for all-new episodes of "The Originals" season 4 which premieres sometime in mid-season of 2017 on The CW.
