"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is expected to be faithful to the manga again following the backlash that came with the drastic change made in the second season.

If Studio Pierrot has been working on the new season, the anime might be back in no time. However, there is no official word yet about a renewal.

It has been more than a year since the second season ended, but the studio remains silent about a "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 ever happening.

However, with the way the second season ended, Studio Pierrot appears to have planned a third season for it. After all, protagonist Ken Kaneki's fate was hanging in the balance when the credits rolled.

The character was embroiled in a standoff against Akima, who appeared to have won the battle and might have even killed Ken. "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is supposed to build on that.

Unfortunately, the company may not have accounted for the negative feedback the second season received, putting themselves in a situation that might require them to restart.

However, "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 could still continue what the second season left off especially since it was still somehow based on an event on the manga.

But this certain happening takes place far along in the story compared to where the anime is at. This brings into play a risk of messing with the arrangement of the story and the sequence, though.

At the moment, Studio Pierrot is completely mum about "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3. Fortunately, they won't have any trouble making one since there are enough chapters of the manga they can cover.

Sui Ishida has been putting out chapter after chapter of his story. However, it remains unclear what the studio has in mind for the anime.

For now, those who want to get into the story of Ken Kaneki and ghouls should go for the manga. With regards to a possible release date for "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, some say an early 2017 premiere could happen.
