'Tokyo Ghoul' season 3 spoilers: New season, new protagonist?

Not one word about "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 has been said by Studio Pierrot more than a year after the second season ended, but it is still believed that the third season will happen soon.

There are reports going around that there will be a new protagonist that viewers will follow when "Tokyo Ghoul" returns to the small screen.

In the first and second season of the anime, fans watched the story unfold as they followed Ken Kaneki. In "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, it will reportedly be centered on Touka Kirishima.

The character, who is actually a ghoul, has appeared in the previous seasons. She worked as a part-time waitress while she was in high school.

When Ken is in his half-ghoul form, Touka helps him how to live among other ghouls. She herself is an expert when it comes to blending in.

Despite this, they are not exactly the best of friends, as Touka actually hates Ken. Either way, being ghoul brings them together. This is expected to play out in "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.

Reports say that for "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, the anime will follow Touka's journey to college. She will allegedly look for the best university to go to, but it will be very tough for her to do so.

Beyond that, there's no information on what "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will be all about or if it will ever happen. Studio Pierrot was also tight-lipped all throughout.

On the other hand, there are speculations that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will follow Ken as he takes on a new identity as a ghoul investigator after being abducted by a terrorist group.

Meanwhile, there are reports that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 was delayed due to the live-action movie based on the hit manga and anime.

The film will star actor Masataka Kubota as Ken and actress Fumika Shimizu as Touka. The "T0kyo Ghoul" live-action film will be in cinemas summer 2017 in Japan.

It is reportedly because of the film that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 might be delayed. However, there's no information to corroborate that yet.
