'Fire Emblem Gaiden' remake latest news: Limited edition of upcoming 3DS game to be released
"Fire Emblem Gaiden," originally released for the Famicom in Japan, will be getting a remake for the Nintendo 3DS, and a limited edition version of the reworked game will be released as well.
The remake is titled "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia." Aside from graphics and cinematics optimization, this will also feature free-roaming 3D dungeon environments, which will be used in the game series for the first time.
While a standalone game will be released to the public, a limited edition version will also be sold. This contains not only the game but also a hardcover art book, a pin set which features the characters of "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia," and a CD of the game's soundtrack. Buyers also get a reversible cover sheet that resembles the original packaging of "Fire Emblem Gaiden."
Aside from the 3DS remake, Nintendo will also be releasing amiibo of Alm and Celica, the two main characters from "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia." When used in-game, they will be able to open their own dungeons, giving players the chance to earn rewards, either in the form of items or experience points. The amiibo characters, whose stats are tied with the actual characters, may also be used in battle. Players can opt to sacrifice some of Alm's or Celica's health in order to summon a hero as an ally for one turn.
"Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia" features the story of Alm and Celica, who each serve as an army leader. They will end up working together in order to bring peace to Valencia.
"Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia" will be released on May 19. The amiibo will roll out on the same day. In the European and UK editions of the game, the amiibo characters are bundled together with the limited edition version of the game.
The limited edition bundle of "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia" is priced at $59.99, while the game alone can be bought for $39.99.
