'The 100' season 4 episode 8 spoilers: Abby toes the line between ethical boundaries
Episode 4 will see Abby (Paige Turco) facing an ethical dilemma. She will need to decide between continuing with her experimentation on a human being in order to save the rest of humanity, and refusing to make the sacrifice and risk the lives of all the other inhabitants.
The experiment that she will be performing will involve having one of their number exposed to radiation in order to see if the serum Abby developed will actually work. The doctor will wrestle with her conscience about this test, given that she will effectively become a murderer if the treatment fails to do what it was intended to do. The trailer seemed to indicate that they went through with the experimentation as it showcased them injecting a man with a serum.
This episode comes on the heels of the previous episode, with Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Abby discussing what measures can be undertaken in order to protect the people from radiation, with the latter being ordered to find the solution before it is too late, especially with the acid rain already starting to fall. The former, who already discovered what her mother is planning, realizes the seriousness of the situation, but she is also equally dismayed about the choice they will have to take. Clarke asked Abby on the previous episode, "Who do we test?"
Jaha (Isaiah Washington) will also try to discover more information about the Second Dawn cult, which is led by the mysterious Bill Cadogan.
Fans are speculating that the two storylines contribute directly to the episode's title being "The God Complex." Abby may play God by deciding who gets to die through her experiments in her attempt to save the others. On the other hand, it could also refer to the god-like being that the Second Dawn cult is said to believe in.
Episode 4 will air on March 29, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
