The season 7 finale of "The Walking Dead" has not aired yet, but some information about the next season have already been revealed.

During the 34th PaleyFest, series showrunner Scott M. Gimple said that season 8, which will feature the show's 100th episode, will also serve as the platform to launch 100 more episodes, indicating that "The Walking Dead" has no plans of leaving the airwaves anytime soon. He also said that season 7's finale will be "quantum intense."

Season 8 is expected to show an all-out war between the survivors and the Saviors. Speculations are high that Sasha will be killed off in this episode, given that the actress who plays the role, Sonequa Martin-Green, has just been cast as the series lead for "Star Trek: Discovery."

One of the things that some fans may be dismayed with is that Negan, who killed fan favorite Glenn (Steve Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), will continue to terrorize the show's protagonists. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays the character, confirmed with ComicBook.com that he will be returning for season 8. The confirmation of his return is bound to disappoint a lot of fans who are hoping for his death. On the other hand, Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, said that the season 7's finale will be "satisfying."

He said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "I think if we get it right, it will be an incredibly satisfying ending to season 7." He also added how the cast members are excited to film for season 8. Gimple also said in that same interview that there will be no cliffhangers for this season's finale, unlike where season 6 left off.

"The Walking Dead" will return in October 2017, and season 8 will have 16 episodes. Meanwhile, the season 7 finale will air on April 2, Sunday, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
