'Uncharted' news: Nathan Drake will not appear in 'Uncharted: The Lost Legacy'
Nathan Drake will not be the protagonist of "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy." In fact, the character, who was the lead in all previous "Uncharted" titles, will not be appearing there at all. Instead, the protagonists will be Chloe Frazer, who appeared in the second and third titles in the series, and Nadine Ross, who was introduced in the fourth one.
However, this does not mean that the existence of Nathan Drake will not be recognized in "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy." He will still be felt via the conversations of the characters. Other characters from the series will also be making cameo appearances in the game.
Prior to Naughty Dog's decision to have Chloe and Nadine as the game leads, the team explored the idea of featuring either Sully or Cassie. However, the former was not considered because of his age and his involvement in the Navy, while the latter was too young to face the adventures, particularly the combat scenarios, on her own.
"Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" is set around six months after "Uncharted 4." The game will feature Chloe hiring Nadine to accompany her in searching for the Tusk of Ganesh in India. The game's antagonist is a man named Asav, who has a history with the latter. More details of the backstory of Chloe, who is part-Indian, will also be revealed, including what her cultural heritage means to her as she comes back to India after being away for quite some time.
IGN reported that the game can be bought either as a standalone game or as part of the "Uncharted 4" deluxe edition. With Nathan Drake's story closing in "Uncharted 4," this could be the last game in the series, according to Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells in a Game Informer interview. However, the possibility of producing another one has not been completely ruled out.
As of this writing, no release date has been announced for "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" yet.
