Dentist plays Christian music all day to 'keep demons out', former employees file complaint
A Michigan dentist faces legal charges from her former employees over her all-day streaming of Christian music in her office.
According to Charisma News, four former employees of Dr. Tina Marshall claimed that they left the job, or were fired because of the Christian music.
The plaintiffs, Kimberly Hinson, Nancy Kordus, Tammy Kulis, and Sara Bambard, filed the complaint with the 6th Judicial Circuit of Oakland County, and a jury trial may take place in the summer.
In the lawsuit, the four former employees are not only suing Dr. Marshall, but also Dr. Craig Stasio, who is a state-registered chiropractor. He is also the leader of a religious group where Marshall joined in 2013.
Stasio reportedly helped Marshall 'restructure' the practice because the dentist's current employees were having problems with the music.
The lawsuit also stated that Stasio was responsible for the 'restructuring', which involved firing three of the practice's employees.
According to the report, the music was initially just played at certain portions of the day. But soon after, the dentist required that the Christian music should be played 24/7, even if no one was in the building.
Kordus said in a statement that the dentist chose to play Christian music all day and all night in order to "keep demons out."
In addition, the former employees stated that they were required by the dentist to do religious activities like praying before the start of the shift.
However, Dr. Marshall said it was not mandatory.
"It's never been mandatory. And it's never been more than just praying for a great day, that it runs smooth," she added.
Asides from the music and daily prayer, the plaintiffs also said that Dr. Marshall often prays over her patients, and places religious decorations all over the establishment.
Both Marshall and Stasio have denied the claims.
