A well-known actor has recently spoken out against the expectation of "political correctness" in the U.S. today, saying he fears that a lack of a moral compass will result in the end of the "West European Christian civilization."

Actor John Rhys-Davies, who has starred in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, recently told Adam Carolla on his daily podcast that the United States "[has] lost our moral compass completely," adding that he worries there will be an end to the "Western European Christian civilization."

"Basically, Christianity in the Middle East and in Africa is being wiped out. I mean not just ideologically but physically, and people are being enslaved and killed because they are Christians. And your country and my country are doing nothing about it," he said.

Carolla responded by saying that he believes the United States should be able to judge groups like the Islamic State, saying: "This notion that we've evolved into a species that's incapable of judging other groups and what they're doing, especially when it's beheading people or setting people on fire or throwing acid in the face of schoolgirls," he said. "I like that kind of judging! That's evolved."

"This is a unique age. We don't want to be judgmental," Rhys-Davies said. "Every other age that has come before us has believed exactly the opposite. I mean, T.S. Eliot referred to 'the common pursuit of true judgment.' Yes. That's what it's about. Getting our judgments right."
