American Pastors Network President denies he said Hillary Clinton is unfit to be U.S. president because she's a woman

Sam Rohrer, president of American Pastors Network, denied reports that he pointed to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's gender as the reason she's unfit for the presidency.

Although the businessman and former Pennsylvania representative said he did not cite Clinton being a woman as the reason why he doesn't support her, Rohrer maintained that he still finds the former First Lady as unfit for the presidential post "for many reasons."

"(But) no, it's not unbiblical for a woman to be in a position of leadership in government," he told Focus Today in an interview and added that he said it "with a caveat because God has an order for things, not because of superiority of one over the other. But because of order."

He also took to Facebook to clarify that he's willing to support "any woman" as long as she qualifies for the position and embodies the biblical criteria of honesty and moral principles.

"Hillary Clinton is not Biblically qualified to be President. It's not because she's a woman but because she embraces unbiblical positions," argued the 60-year-old Rohrer.

Rohrer's clarifications came after media reported that he made the disputed statement on APN's daily radio show "Stand in the Gap Today."

"That statement alone calls into question his own judgment, but beyond that, Christians must ask themselves what the Bible says about a nation's leaders," Penn Live quoted Rohrer as saying after undermining what President Barack Obama said about the Democratic bet's character traits that make her fit for the Oval Office.

Clinton now edges her Republican rival Donald Trump on the recent poll conducted by Washington Post–ABC News after the two national party conventions that were held last month. According to The Washington Post, Clinton benefited from the convention as well as the incendiary remarks made by Trump against the American soldier killed on duty in Iraq, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, and the tirade he exchanged with the Muslim American parents.
