Ann Romney Says Mitt, Family 'Done' With Presidential Elections
Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney will reportedly not seek the presidency in 2016, his wife Ann recently said.
Romney has been making headlines recently for speaking at fundraising events for Republicans, but Ann Romney recently told the Los Angeles Times that her husband is "done" pursuing the presidency.
"Done," she recently told the LA Times when asked if her family would consider a run in 2016. "Completely. Not only Mitt and I are done, but the kids are done. Done. Done. Done."
While fundraising for her Ann Romney Center for Neurological Diseases in Boston, Massachusetts, Romney told NBC that her family would not consider another presidential election.
"We are having no serious conversations about it," she told NBC. "Because we said at the end we will never do this again. It was hard. We've done it. We've had our turn."
Romney made headlines this week after making a joke about Obama being a "clueless" president while speaking in Iowa for a Republican congressional candidate.
Also this week, rumors of a possible presidential run for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton began to swirl after the New York Times published an article saying Clinton may announce her intent to run sooner than expected.
The report suggested Clinton may announced her intention as early as November if Democrats do poorly in mid-term elections and need a spark of motivation to keep going.
"The Democratic Party would look to Mrs. Clinton 'as its Noah's ark,' a vessel on which voters and donors could channel their enthusiasm and frustration, said one of these people, who could discuss the internal deliberations only on the condition of anonymity," the New York Times reported.
