'Attack on Titan' season 2 spoilers update: Major character meets brutal demise, marks anime's end?

\"Attack on Titan\" season 2 will claim the life of a fan-favorite character. | Koei Tecmo

"Attack on Titan" season 2 will feature a major character's death. Since the anime is loyal to Hajime Isayama's manga of the same name, one hero will meet his demise.

Spoiler Alert! The following contains spoilers for the "Attack on Titan" manga and the "Attack on Titan" season 2.

Fans of the source material aren't new to deaths of major characters considering the situation they are in and Isayama's unremitting tendency to kill off beloved heroes.

In the latest arc of the "Attack on Titan" manga titled "Return to Shiganshina," the Survey Corps set to end the reign of terror of the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan.

In the final chapter of this arc, Armin, Eren and Mikasa tackle the former with a plan hatched by Armin. This ultimately led to his demise. After climbing to the Colossal Titan's teeth, he was burned alive.

Armin's death will likely happen in the middle of "Attack on Titan" season 2 since the manga arc that included the story is just third of the four arcs that will be featured in the second run of the series.

The "Attack on Titan" anime usually covers four arcs per season. The first season spanned up to the "Female Titan" arc. But with Armin's death looming, "Attack on Titan" season 2 should be massive with the stakes higher and battles more intense.

According to reports, Armin's passing might mean that the anime and even the manga are approaching their conclusion. Armin is one of the fan-favorite characters in the saga.

Armin lacked the fighting skills and was deemed the weakest in the bunch, but he has developed into one of the bravest heroes in the "Attack on Titan" world as the Titan problem grew.

With "Attack on Titan" season 2 set to feature his end, it will definitely be something fans would have a hard time moving on from.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is reportedly delayed to early 2017.
