Bible App for kids helping children know about God through technology
A mobile application designed to introduce the Bible to children has gained millions of downloads since its release.
The Bible App for Kids has surpassed 10 million downloads after more than two years in the market, according to a report by Christian News Wire.
The app, designed by YouVersion and OneHope, was launched on Thanksgiving Day in 2013, aiming to introduce the Bible to children and younger people through technology. The mobile app has reportedly been downloaded in all countries, and is available in 13 languages.
The Bible App for Kids features 41 Bible-based stories where users are encouraged to engage in activities and exercises to apply what they have learned. The current version of the app is designed for kids ages 4 to 10, and will be getting several updates this year, adding more activities, parent resources, and 10 more languages.
The developers of the mobile application banked their project on a 2010 study, which revealed that children ages 8 to 18 spend roughly 7 hours 38 minutes on their mobile phones or tablets per day.
"Technology is a game changer making the Bible available to many with a few clicks or swipes," OneHope executive, Rob Hoskins. said.
In addition, Hoskins believes that the application will change the "hearts and lives" of kids by allowing them to know more about the Bible and God's Word.
In conjunction with the app, "The Bible App for Kids Storybook Bible" was also released in October, and immediately reached number one in Christian Books and Bibles on Amazon.
