Donald Trump Brings Bible, Photo of Confirmation to Meeting for Iowa Voters
2016 presidential hopeful Donald Trump reportedly brought a Bible and proof of his Christian Confirmation to a recent meeting with conservative Christian voters in Iowa.
While speaking at a recent event for Iowa's Christian voters, Trump reportedly arrived carrying a Bible, according to the Associated Press.
Trump also showed the attendees a photo of himself attending his Christian confirmation.
"See, I'm better than you thought," Trump reportedly joked to the crowd, adding in reference to the photo: "Nobody believes this, What went wrong?"
As The Washington Times reports, Trump will continue to pursue the evangelical Christian vote by attending the Family Research Council's Values Voter Summit event this Friday in Washington, D.C., where he will accompany fellow GOP presidential hopefuls Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz.
Trump has received criticism for comments he's made in recent weeks regarding his faith, such as failing to name his favorite Bible verse and suggesting that he has never asked God for forgiveness.
In a recent interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The Brody File," Trump said that he sees God as "the ultimate."
While speaking at one of his Trump golf courses in Southern California recently, the real estate mogul told Brody: "Well I say God is the ultimate. You know you look at this? Here we are on the Pacific Ocean. How did I ever own this? I bought it fifteen years ago. I made one of the great deals they say ever. I have no more mortgage on it as I will certify and represent to you."
"And I was able to buy this and make a great deal. That's what I want to do for the country. Make great deals. We have to, we have to bring it back, but God is the ultimate. I mean God created this (points to his golf course and nature surrounding it), and here's the Pacific Ocean right behind us. So nobody, no thing, no there's nothing like God," Trump added.
