2016 presidential hopeful Donald Trump is receiving criticism for failing to challenge a man who described U.S. President Barack Obama as a "Muslim" during a recent rally in New Hampshire.

The exchange took place Thursday evening during a rally in New Hampshire, when Trump called on a man during a Q&A session.

The man told Trump that "We have a problem in this country, it's called Muslims. We know our current president is one. You know, he's not even an American. Birth certificate, man."

"Right," Trump responded, adding "We need this question? This first question."

"But any way," the man said. "We have training camps [...] where they want to kill us."

"Uh huh," Trump responded.

"That's my question: When can we get rid of them?" the man concluded.

Trump responded by telling the audience that "We're going to be looking at a lot of different things. You know, a lot of people are saying that, and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We're going to look at that and plenty of other things."

The real estate mogul's failure to correct the man who accused Obama of being Muslim has gained criticism from his 2016 democratic counterparts, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

"Donald Trump not denouncing false statements about POTUS & hateful rhetoric about Muslims is disturbing, & just plain wrong. Cut it out," Clinton shared on Twitter.

"Trump must apologize to the president and American people for continuing the lie that the president is not an American and not a Christian," Sanders also tweeted.
