Donald Trump to Host 'Saturday Night Live,' NBC Confirms
NBC announced this week that 2016 presidential hopeful and real estate mogul Donald Trump is reportedly set to host the "Saturday Night Live" sketch comedy show in November.
NBC News announced Tuesday that Trump will host the popular Saturday evening show on November 7.
The real estate mogul-turned-politican reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that he had previously been asked to host the show by NBC, but had been unavailable, adding that he is excited for the opportunity to host.
"I had a great time," Trump told the media outlet, referencing the first time he hosted the program. "They actually asked me to do it a second time, but I wasn't able to do it because I was away."
Trump previously hosted the show in 2004 after finishing the first season of his highly-acclaimed reality show "The Apprentice."
"After just one season, I am about to become the highest-paid television personality in America," Trump said during his opening monologue in April 2004. "And as everyone in this room knows, 'highest-paid' means 'best.'"
The announcement of Trump's hosting of the show comes after fellow 2016 presidential hopeful appeared on the sketch comedy program as a bartender talking to "SNL" cast member Kate McKinnon.
"SNL" writers Sarah Schneider and Chris Kelly recently told Mashable in a joint email that Clinton "loved" playing the role of a bartender in his sketch.
"We thought it would be fun to see Hillary do something outside the box. People would assume that she would come on as herself, as she's done before. That would have been great too, but we wanted to at least see if she'd try a character. It was Chris' idea to have her as a bartender. And luckily she loved the idea!" Schneider said in an email to the media outlet.
