Franklin Graham congratulates Hillary Clinton on Democratic nomination win, says 'this nation is in serious trouble'

Rev. Franklin Graham congratulated Hillary Clinton for securing the Democratic nomination on Tuesday, June 7, and implored Americans to pray for the nation which he considers to be in "serious trouble."

"It seems congratulations are in order to Hillary Clinton this morning," Graham wrote on his Facebook post.

He uploaded a link by the Associated Press announcing Clinton's Democratic nomination. Graham also mentioned Democratic political hopeful Bernie Sanders who still refuses to give up the fight despite the odds. The evangelical leader shared his thoughts that the presidential race this fall would eventually be between Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump.

"I am appealing to all Americans to pray," he then added as he clarified that he's not endorsing any candidate.

Graham continued, "This nation is in serious trouble. Both the Democratic and the Republican parties have lost the moral vision for this nation."

He believes that what the nation needs now is a strong and courageous visionary leader.

"We need a president who can lead this nation back to being one nation under God so that we can truly say 'In God we trust!'" he said.

Back in March, Graham spoke to 5,000 Christians in Denver who showed up for his "Decision America Prayer" tour which he likened to Nehemiah, the biblical prophet who called on God to restore Jerusalem. The CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association hoped that his tour would do the same for America as he perceived the present times as similar to Nehemiah's time.

In an interview with CBN News, Graham shared what he told Christians during his tour. Instead of asking them to boycott leaders he doesn't approve of, Graham said he's beseeching Christians to cast their votes based on biblical principles come election time. He also advised them to vote for the "least heathen of the two heathen."
