Franklin Graham calls Christians to join united prayer for 'divine intervention and healing' on America
Leading Evangelist Franklin Graham invited Christians to unite in prayer for God to intervene and heal the troubled America.
"Our country is in a huge mess," wrote Graham on Facebook.
He followed this up with a description of the mess America is in right now.
"Shootings, riots, and protests now claim the headlines about America, and that's heartbreaking," said the CEO of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Graham was referring to the series of tragic events that shook up the country recently. Last month, Orlando became the venue for the country's worst shooting tragedy in history when an American-Afghan man with sympathies for terrorist groups attacked the Pulse gay nightclub, killed 49 and wounded 53.
The gun shooting violence spilled over this month in different parts of the U.S. as black men died at the hands of white cops and vice versa. The deaths of African-Americans Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge and Philando Castile in Minnesota have sparked nationwide protests. A lone gunman gunned down five white cops in Dallas as they kept a peaceful protest rally in check. Gunmen also targeted the police in a series of shootings in Missouri, Georgia and Tennessee.
"We are in desperate need of Divine intervention. We need healing," said Graham, who believes that prayer is the solution.
He reminded Christians of what the Bible taught in 2 Chronicles 7:14 and said, "God's Word tells us that if we humble ourselves, confess our sins, and turn from our wicked ways, God will heal our land."
Thus, he scheduled a united prayer on Monday, July 18 at noon before the Republican National Convention is scheduled to open, and another on the next day before the Democratic National Convention opens.
Referring to James 5:16, Graham said, "The Bible says that the prayers of one righteous person avails much. So if there are thousands of us calling out to God on behalf of our nation, can you imagine what He might do?"
