Google and Apple Partnership to Increase Disney Viewing Satisfaction

Whether it's because someone powerful enough wished upon a star and the wish was granted, or the key players at Google and Apple all simply saw the influential and magical Disney light, it's the customers who are the hands-down winners in the end.

In a never-before realized scenario, Google and Apple have joined forces to ensure that their rivalry will not stand in the way of customer viewing satisfaction, particularly when the material being watched comes from Disney.

Smartphones and tablets run on different operating systems. Google has Android and Apple has the iOS, and to use the words of poet Rudyard Kipling, it's always been thought that "never the twain shall meet."

However, that negative outlook was dashed when the two tech giants shook hands and agreed to make Disney content bought from their respective online stores compatible to watch on either platform.

In other words, if you buy a digital copy of the highly popular movie "Frozen," for example, from the Google Play store, you won't be tied down anymore to watching it only over Android-run devices. It is now possible to watch your downloaded movie on Apple TV or your iPhone using the iTunes library.

To be able to do that, though, there's a preliminary step that you, as a consumer, would need to do, and that is to register with the Disney Movies Anywhere app. Then, you'll be able to access the cross-platform (OS) compatibility achieved by the partnership between Google and Apple.

Disney has more than 400 digital titles, including those that are Disney-produced, and those that are produced by Marvel and Pixar. The new partnership forged between Google and Apple is expected to enhance customer viewing convenience and access to desired content to levels never realized before.

Best of all, with the Disney Movies Anywhere app, customers can preview "coming soon" productions, as well as view short-form content that is exclusive to Disney, for free. It's a win-win situation all around.
