'Grimm' season 6 spoilers news: Shortened season 6 could be final installment; Renard is the new big bad

After receiving a trimmed-down season 6 order of just 13 episodes from its usual 22, fans of NBC's "Grimm" are speculating that the police procedural fantasy drama could be nearing its end.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, "Grimm" star David Giuntoli addressed the rumors regarding the impending conclusion of the NBC series, saying that it is perfectly possible that "Grimm" could end with its upcoming sixth season.
When asked what the reduced episode order for season 6 means, Giuntoli said, "I would imagine this will be our last season."
According to the actor, six seasons seems to be the typical run of a network TV show and "Grimm" is about to hit that number. However, he said that the 13-episode order doesn't necessarily mean that the series is drawing to a close.
"We've also heard we might do two more shortened seasons," he added. "But either way, we're getting to the end."
"Grimm" creator David Greenwalt also spoke about the rumored end of the series, telling TVLine that they could, in fact, air more than 13 episodes.
"We're assured of 13, which is more than half the season," he said. "There may or may not be more episodes. It may or may not be the last season."
Meanwhile, Giuntoli also revealed that his character, Nick, and the rest of the "Grimm" gang will no longer be dealing with Black Claw in season 6. In the interview with TV Insider, the actor said that Renard (Sasha Roiz) will be the show's new big bad.
According to Giuntoli, "Grimm" will move away from Black Claw and turn the spotlight on the show's main characters in season 6.
"Renard is going to be the big bad in Season 6," he said. "We'll focus more on him and his rise to power and what that means."
"Grimm" season 6 is expected to air later this year on NBC.
