'Hawaii Five-0' season 7 episodes 14 spoilers: Lou Diamond Phillips to guest star as dangerously aggressive U.S. Marshal

After bidding an emotional farewell to their long-time chief medical examiner, life goes on for the Five-0 Task Force as they go up against a U.S. Marshal's aggressive efforts to smoke out a fugitive in the next episode of "Hawaii Five-0."
Titled "Ka laina ma ke one (Line in the Sand)," the episode brings in veteran TV actor Lou Diamond Phillips to play the part of U.S. Marshal Lincoln, who comes to a village in Hawaii in pursuit of a man wanted for murder. The fugitive, who seeks asylum in a sovereign land that may no longer be part of the United States but is still within the borders of the Nation of Hawaii, is being harbored by armed men who are determined to protect keep the U.S. Marshal and his men outside of the border.
While Lincoln's intentions may be good, he will find himself butting heads with Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) and his team when he puts the lives of the villagers at risk in order to get the man he wants. The trailer for the upcoming episode shows Steve patiently reasoning with the U.S. Marshal to take into consideration the lives that may be lost should they keep threatening the sovereignty of said land.
"These people will die to protect it," Steve says.
"They'll only have themselves to blame," Lincoln quips, which obviously does not sit very well with the lieutenant commander of the Five-0 Task Force.
Will Steve and his team be able to stop a potentially deadly skirmish from breaking out over a wanted man? How will the Five-0 Task Force protect this sovereign land and their right to refuse entry from the U.S. Marshal? Will Lincoln be willing to work with Steve to come up with a better plan to apprehend this fugitive without risking the lives of civilians?
Fans have been looking forward to Philips' guest appearance on "Hawaii Five-0" ever since the actor announced it on his official Twitter account late last year. The episode reunites Philips with his fellow "Longmire" alum Peter Weller, who takes the helm as director of the much-anticipated episode.
In another tweet, Philips shared his own excitement working with the cast and crew of "Hawaii Five-0." Captioned "A pair of Kings and a Joker!" the photo features Philips posing with Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Chin, and O'Loughlin with his wide Joker grin. The caption is a reference to Philips and Kim's stints as the titular King of Siam in the Broadway musical "The King and I," where Philips famously made his acting debut. Kim, on the other hand, has been playing the character at the Vivian Beaumont Theater since May last year.
"Hawaii Five-0" season 7 episode 14 airs on Friday, Jan. 20, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
