Islamic State Deserter Recalls Violence, Horror In Terrorist Organization
A soldier who recently deserted the Islamic State has recalled the immense amount of violence and anger he endured while working for the terrorist organization.
Abu Almouthanna recently deserted the Islamic State terrorist organization after working for them for three years in Syria. Now, as he undergoes hiding in Turkey, the former jihadist recalls the killing of Christians and Kurds with the terrorist regime, as well as the attacking of fellow native jihadists.
Almouthanna told Fox News in a recent interview that initially he was pleased to join the Islamic State, as they had the best weapons and paid wages to its fighters. He soon learned, however, that soldiers of the Islamic State were forced to obey a strict code of Islam that would result in a death sentence if they strayed.
"I was happy to move to ISIS. They had the most money and the best weapons, but other than that they were just the same," the former jihadist told Fox News.
The former terrorist even said that he met Britons and Frenchmen during his time as an Islamic State member. The foreigners were reportedly training to join the terrorist organization, and they often joked in gory detail about beheading enemies, including Christians and westerners.
Almouthanna detailed how ruthless the Islamic State fighting became, saying that the militants would attack native jihadist villages and kill women and children.
"By the end, we were killing everything and everyone, including women and children in surrounding villages or left in the town," he said, adding "It was easy. We had been in battle for weeks."
