Lone wolf terrorist attacks restaurant owned by Israeli Christian with machete

A Somali man entered Nazareth Restaurant in Columbus and hacked four customers with a machete on Thursday evening.

According to CBS News, investigators identified the attacker as Mohammad Barry, a man with a Somali background.

Hany Baransi, the owner of Nazareth Restaurant, had an Israeli flag displayed at the front of the venue at the time of the attack. According to some witnesses, Barry entered the restaurant and asked diners where the owner was from.

Karen Bass, a customer who had been at the restaurant when the hacking began, said that Barry came to each table and started hitting them.

"There were tables and chairs overturned there was a man on the floor bleeding there was blood on the floor," she said, describing the scene.

Baransi and his restaurant had gained popularity in the community. He is known as an Israeli Christian from Haifa area.

Police responded to a report that a man wielding a machete and was hacking diners. Barry was shot and killed at the scene. Columbus Police Sgt. Rich Weiner said it remained unclear who the attacker was targetting.

"Right now there's nothing that leads us to believe that this is anything but a random attack," Sgt. Weiner stated.

The Somali terrorist is believed to be a lone wolf attacker. His four victims were severely and immediately transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment. One of the victims is reportedly in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, Baransi expressed his concern for the victims."For customers, thanks for the support, and live, we'll get cleaned up, you get knocked down you get up again. God bless you, and I love you," he said.
