Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date news update: Delayed to wait for powerful components, 1 TB version of original on preorder

The Microsoft Book 2 is expected to be delayed as Microsoft waits for new hardware to use on the laptop. However, there may be another reason the device is not coming soon.

Microsoft currently has on preorder an all-new 1 terabyte (TB) version of the Microsoft Surface Book and the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, ready to be shipped by the end of the month.

Apart from the increased storage, the Microsoft Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4 have the same set of specs on offer. The 1 TB versions should cater to those who want to make the most of Microsoft's latest releases.

With regards to the Microsoft Surface Book 2, it is expected that the laptop won't be here this year. Since its predecessor released October last year, it was naturally assumed device will be out that same month this year.

According to reports, Microsoft is waiting for the Redstone 2 update on the Windows 10 that will be released early next year. Until it isn't ready, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will not be out.

It is important for Microsoft to wait for the Redstone 2 because it is packed with features that it can integrate with the Microsoft Surface Book 2.

While the software titan waits for the update's arrival, it does the same on the processors it plans to use on its highly-anticipated sequel to the Microsoft Surface Book.

One of the key upgrades in the laptop is the processor. The current version of the laptop has Intel Skylake, but Microsoft plans to use the next-generation chipsets known as Kaby Lake.

This powerful piece of equipment will be ready by the end of the year, making an October launch for the Microsoft Surface Book 2 impossible.

Through this high-performance processor, the laptop will be able to seamlessly support the all-new versatile connector called Thunderbolt 3 as well as the USC Type-C port.

The Kaby Lake should also help the Microsoft Surface Book 2's battery life last longer so users can fully experience what the laptop has to offer.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 should be ready by early 2017.
