Nick Cannon reveals ex-wife Mariah Carey is passionate about the Bible

Comedian and television host Nick Cannon revealed that his ex-wife Mariah Carey is "deep into the Bible" and she made him wait until marriage before they had sex.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club morning show on Thursday, Cannon was asked about the details about their decision to wait.

"We were both on the same page because I was in a place where I was being celibate at the time, and I think that's one of the ways that we bonded for the first time," he said, as reported by The Christian Post.

"The first time we actually sat down and met it was on some spiritual stuff. We were praying and all that type of stuff and I was like, 'Woah, I didn't know Mariah had this side to her,'" he added.

The comedian revealed that he felt a connection with Carey because of her conservative personality.

"A lot of people don't know, she's really a good girl and conservative when it comes to that and deep into the Bible. People just wouldn't think about that, so we had that connection," said Cannon.

Cannon indicated that he and Carey hurried into marriage because they were waiting to have sex until the wedding day, noting that he had seen many young people do the same.

The couple filed for divorce in 2014 but they have often met together to spend time with their twins, Monroe and Moroccan. According to People, the couple's divorce has been finalized earlier this month. Carey recently broke off her engagement with the Australian businessman James Packer.

Cannon, who was raised as a Christian, also expressed his view that abortion is the "real genocide" on the African-American community in the U.S.

The comedian said that he did not support either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump during the election because he felt that they both represent the same system which he viewed as oppressive.

Cannon also revealed that his ex-girlfriend Brittany Bell is pregnant with his child. He used to date Bell before he got married to Carey.
