Ohio Buckeyes Coach Urban Meyer Thinks Tim Tebow Should Still Be In NFL
Urban Meyer, coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes and friend of Tim Tebow, said in a recently interview that he does not understand why the evangelical athlete has not been picked up by an NFL team.
Tebow, who graduated from the University of Florida when Meyer coached there, was dropped from the New England Patriots in 2013. Since, he has not played for another NFL team, but rather picked up a new job as an analysis for the SEC Network on ESPN.
Although critics say Tebow has a promising future in sports broadcast, the football player has repeatedly expressed his interest in one day rejoining the NFL. Meyer echoed these sentiments in a recent interview at Big Ten Media Days.
"I still don't get that part of it," Meyer said at the recent college football media event, as reported by NFL.com. "He's the second-most efficient passer ever to play college football."
Meyer went on to say he thinks Tebow needs to finds the right NFL team to succeed, saying: "He had really good personnel around him [at Florida] and we utilized his skill very well."
"I think in a traditional setting, it is difficult, but there's a lot of non-traditional offenses now in the NFL."
Tebow, who opens his first SEC game this month, has previously said that he continues to train multiple times a week to play in the NFL.
"I'm training every day and feel like I'm the best that I've ever been," Tebow told The Tennessean in a recent interview. "I still love it, love playing, talking about it, and I'm just excited about whatever the future holds. Who knows what could happen? But I'm excited about it, though."
