American-British TV series "Outlander" may have closed its second season already but the story lives on. The series has been renewed for season 3 and fans can expect more of the adventures from Diana Gabaldon's novels to come to life. So what can fans expect from the third season?

According to Bustle, "Outlander" season 3 will follow the storyline found in Gabaldon's third book in the series, which is the "Voyager." This means that the bookworms will have an inkling already as to what will take place in the upcoming season.

However, the things that will take place in the show will not exactly be the same in the book. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore revealed in an interview with Bustle that the show will be straying a little further away from the book series. And even though they will be sticking as close as they possibly can to the novel, they will be making some changes as they have been given some creative freedom.

Moore also revealed to Entertaintment Weekly that at this point, they are already starting on the production of the third season. He also said that season 3 will be a "traveling show." They will start in Scotland and then move on to the seas in Jamaica where they will introduce pirates and voyages.

Sam Heughan, who plays as Jamie in the show, also teased a spoiler. As detailed in Variety, Heughan said that his character and Caitriona Balfe's character Claire will be both older in season 3. The two lovers have separated ways in the finale and it's going to be a mystery how they will cross paths again. But while they are separated, the show will explore more of the lives of the two characters including their mental and physical changes.

"Outlander" season 3 premiere date is not announced yet so fans will have to stay tuned for that.
