Megachurch pastor T.D. Jakes said in a recent interview that despite his massive accomplishments at his 30,000-member church in Dallas, Texas, he is most focused on being a good person and being close to his family.

Jakes, who is the lead pastor at The Potter's House Church in Dallas, Texas, recently told The Christian Post that he is "much more concerned about being a good person" than he is about being a good preacher.

"It is not the outward accolades in success of men because I find that to be so fickle, but there are moments I have had with my children and watching them grow," he told The Christian Post in a recent interview.

Jakes went on to discuss his 34-year marriage to wife Serita, saying "It is the fact that our relationship has survived and flourished for 34 years between my wife and I. It is the fact that I took care of my mother until the day she died of Alzheimer's and I got to be a good son. I'm much more concerned about being a good person than I am about being a good preacher."

The megachurch pastor is currently preparing to host his annual MegaFest Christian festival in Dallas, Texas this August that will include a variety of famous speakers, including evangelical speaker Joyce Meyers and evangelical Australian activist Christine Caine.

Jakes previously told The Christian Post that the festival is "more than a conference."

"It's a festival. It's a celebration. It's a commitment to the American spirit, that no matter what we go through, no matter how tough, no matter how dark the night, somehow we always land on our feet," Jakes added.
