Pat Robertson: 'Gays Want Christians to Conform,' Like In Sodom and Gomorrah

Television host and evangelical leader Pat Robertson has made waves again with recent comments from his Christian Broadcasting Network show "The 700 Club."

On an airing of "The 700 Club" this week, Robertson defended Colorado baker Jack Phillips, owner of the Masterpiece Cakeshop in Denver who was ordered by a judge to serve gay couples regardless of his religious beliefs that oppose the practice of homosexuality.

Robertson argued that this recent ruling by a Colorado judge is indicative that the gay population in the U.S. wants everyone to conform to their agenda or be driven out of business.

"What our civil rights commissions and others are saying is, 'We want to endanger our society and set it up for the judgment of God and if you Christians don't like it then get out,'" Robertson said.

"What the gays are saying is, 'We're going to drive you out of town, either you conform to us or you must leave.' That's the message that's being put out," Robertson said on his show. "It's the same message that there was in Sodom and Gomorrah: You're either going to have sex with angels or have open sex with anybody or else you leave, or you go out of business."

Robertson added: "That's America, you don't want that, do you?"

Robertson has previously received criticism for controversial comments regarding issues such as homosexuality and atheism. Back in March, Robertson argued that the question regarding how Jesus would handle homosexual issues is a moot point because in Jesus' time, homosexuals would be stoned to death.

"I think you got to remember from the Bible, if you look carefully at the Bible what would have happened in Jesus' time if two men decided they wanted to cohabit together, they would have been stoned to death," Robertson said during the March airing of "The 700 Club."

"So Jesus would not have baked them a wedding cake nor would he have made them a bed to sleep in because they wouldn't have been there. But we don't have that in this country here so that's the way it is."
