Perry Noble shares Bible verse to inspire people dealing with addiction

Perry Noble, the former pastor of NewSpring Church, went on social media to share a Bible verse that inspired him to keep going despite the mistakes that he made in the past.

In a video posted on Facebook, Noble said that he found encouragement from Proverbs 24:16 which stated in part, "for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again." He noted that Christians are not righteous because of their own deeds but "because of what Christ has done for us."

Noble, who was fired as a pastor of Newspring for alcohol abuse last July, went on to encourage people who have made serious mistakes, such as those are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, "to get back up."

"What defeated us, does not have to define us, if we are in Christ. If you fail, get back up. If you had an affair, and just moved past it—get back up. Don't go back there, get back out of where you had fallen. If you stole money, if you embezzled money and it defeated you for so long, get back up," he said.

The former pastor advised Christians not to spend their time regretting their mistakes but to repent, move forward and "focus on what Christ wants us to do."

"If you're not dead, God's not done, and the best is yet to come," he concluded.

In September, Noble stated that he was able to overcome his alcohol addiction after spending 30 days in a rehabilitation facility in Arizona. He also revealed his plan to return to the ministry with the help of his therapist.

Noble refrained from posting on social media for a while but in October, he shared a few details about his family problems and alcoholism that led to his firing from the church.

He revealed that he chose to isolate himself from the community despite preaching that people should not live alone. He said that he was discouraged by the challenges he faced in his marriage with his wife, Lucretia and he started drinking alcohol instead of asking for help.

Noble said that he and his wife are working hard on their marriage and he urged other couples who are encountering difficulties in their relationship not to give up.
