Planned Parenthood shutting down multiple clinics across the U.S. to cut costs

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the U.S., is reportedly closing down multiple facilities across the country as part of its cost-cutting measures.

According to Life News, the only Planned Parenthood clinic in Casper, Wyoming will be closed down on July 21 due to financial reasons. While the clinic does not conduct abortions, it did refer patients to other facilities that provide the service.

Despite closing down its last clinic in the state, Planned Parenthood will continue its sex education programs and political advocacy, according to Jim Sedlak, executive director of American Life League.

"Planned Parenthood sex programs are designed to get our children involved in sexual activity. Although we are happy that Wyoming will no longer have a physical Planned Parenthood facility, parents and religious leaders must continue their efforts to keep PP-style sex programs away from our kids," he said.

Planned Parenthood is also planning to close its multiple facilities in Iowa after the state passed a measure to defund the organization. The abortion provider is closing down its clinics in Burlington, Keokuk and Sioux City, and a fourth clinic in Quad City will be shut down when the building is sold.

On May 12, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad signed legislation to take away Medicare funding from Planned Parenthood beginning on July 1. The taxpayer money that used to go to the abortion provider will now be redirected to community health clinics that do not perform abortions.

Three more Planned Parenthood facilities will be closing down in New Mexico in September, citing financial reasons and patient numbers. The abortion giant announced that it will close down the centers in Farmington, Rio Rancho and Nob Hill in Albuquerque this coming fall, and it will expand its hours on its three remaining facilities in New Mexico to accommodate patients.

Life Site News reported that other Planned Parenthood clinics in Colorado and southern Nevada are slated to close.

In March, two clinics in Pennsylvania were closed due to financial reasons, bringing the number of Planned Parenthood facility closings to 11 in 2017.

American Life League noted that 27 Planned Parenthood clinics have closed down in 2016, bringing the abortion chain's number of facilities down by one-third.

The abortion organization performs more than 300,000 abortion each year and receives nearly $500 million in federal funding each annually. Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood officials rejected an offer to receive an increase in taxpayer funding in exchange for discontinuing its abortion services.
