'Prison Break' season 5 release date rumors update: First trailer video out; new season to air in spring 2017
While the new installment of serial drama "Prison Break" isn't due out until early 2017, Fox has released the first glimpse of the revival series in a trailer for the show's upcoming season 5.
The trailer features the show's original main cast members, including Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield), Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows), Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara Tancredi), and Robert Knepper (T-Bag Bagwell), and quickly establishes that Michael is still alive and is in a Moroccan prison.
When "Prison Break" ended its fourth season in 2009, Michael appeared to have sacrificed his life in a bid to break Sara, the mother of his son, out of jail. In the new season, it appears that Sara and Lincoln will be busting Michael out of prison with the aid of the old "Prison Break" crew.
The opening shot has Sara speaking to her and Michael's son, who has just inquired about his missing father. The trailer then cuts to Lincoln, who receives news from T-Bag that Michael is alive. A series of fast-paced clips follows, showing Lincoln paying Sara a visit, putting the old team together, and drawing up plans to break Michael out of jail. Lincoln's quest leads him to Morocco, where he locates Michael. In their first face-to-face encounter in the trailer, Lincoln walks up to a long row of prison bars and promises Michael that he will get his brother out. The trailer does not explain why Michael is behind bars.
Apart from the details teased in the new trailer, not much else is known about the upcoming fifth season of "Prison Break."
Meanwhile, Fox has reportedly pushed back the premiere of the "Prison Break" revival series to make room for its new series, a baseball drama titled "Pitch." According to TV Series Finale, both the fifth season of "Prison Break" and the final season of "Bones" have been delayed to make room for the new show, the premiere of which is being moved to fall 2016.
"Pitch" is scheduled to air Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET, the timeslot originally planned for "Bones" season 12. The premiere of the latest season of "Bones" has been moved to early next year.
