'Rainbow Six Siege' DLC update, latest news: Ubisoft unveils Mira as second 'Velvet Shell' operator

Ubisoft recently released a new teaser for the upcoming "Operation Velvet Shell" DLC update of the video game "Rainbow Six Siege." The latest teaser reveals Mira, the second Spanish operator arriving with the new content update.
In the brief trailer, fans get to see a glimpse of Mira holding a large tool that is capable of blowing a hole through reinforced walls. Mira doesn't destroy the wall in its entirety. Instead, she only creates a rectangular hole while leaving the rest of the wall intact.
According to a blog post published by Ubisoft on its official website, Mira is one of the two new Operators from Spain's Grupo Especial de Operaciones (G.E.O.). Along with her previous announced cohort, Jackal, Mira will be available to unlock and command once the "Velvet Shell" DLC arrives.
It was also revealed that Mira's real name is Elena Maria Alvarez and that she was born during Spain's political shift. She was raised by her single father who ran a mechanics shop in Retiro, Madrid. Working in the family business, Mira learned how to detect and repair mechanical defects on automobile engines. After graduation, she decided to join the police force, eventually passing the evaluations to become a G.E.O. officer.
"Rainbow Six Siege" scriptwriter Farah Brixi also briefly discussed Mira as a game character and a G.E.O. member.
"[Mira] has ample experience in physical defense as well as residential security for high profile ministers, visiting heads of state, and heads of government," Brixi said.
"[Mira] also offered a great opportunity to portray the growing interaction between different Operators, even when it is not agreeable," Brixi explained, adding: "There are particular tension between her and some Rainbow Six Operators. One of them is Eliza Cohen who she met during Operation Blue Orion, which did not yield the anticipated results. Cohen and [Mira] have been brutal rivals on record ever since."
Ubisoft also announced that both Operators, including the new Coastline map on the Spanish island of Ibiza, will be fully revealed during a live demo of the "Operation Velvet Shell" DLC at the Six Invitational Tournament this weekend.
"Rainbow Six Siege" is now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The upcoming "Operation Velvet Shell" DLC update will be released on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
