Ubisoft has recently revealed that it plans to forego its previous plans of adding new game modes for their popular video game "Rainbow Six Siege." Instead, the company will be focusing in significantly beefing up the game's character roster.

In an interview with PC Gamer at a preview event in Montreal, Canada, creative director Xavier Marquis has revealed that new game modes will not be introduced for "Rainbow Six Siege."

"It's something that we do not want to do," Marquis said. Later on, he added, "The map can be different, the operators can be different, but we need something static and that is Siege mode. Siege is the center of everything."

"Rainbow Six Siege" brand director Alexandre Remy also spoke with PC Gamer and revealed that Ubisoft has big plans to increase the character count of the 5-in-5 multiplayer shooter video game. Declaring that Ubisoft intends to forego introducing additional game modes to the game, Remy also said that the company favors boosting the game's character roster between 50 to 100 operators.

At present, "Rainbow Six Siege" only has 28 existing operators, with 8 more playable characters on their way to be added this year. Should the company pursue their plans to expand the roster of operators, Ubisoft will still have a very long way to go to achieve their lofty ambition.

In the meantime, Ubisoft has released their latest DLC update to "Rainbow Six Siege" on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Called "Operation Velvet Shell," the update features the addition of two new Operators: Mira and Jackal. The two characters are both members of the Grupo Especial de Operaciones (G.E.O.) and possess unique skills and abilities that will make the suitable operators for gamers.

Aside from the addition of characters, the "Operation Velvet Shell" DLC also includes a new Coastline map on the Spanish island of Ibiza

"Rainbow Six Siege" is now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
