Investigators involved in the recent shooting of a terrorism suspect in Boston, Massachusetts have stated that the suspect's initial beheading target was Pamela Geller, a controversial blogger known for her anti-Muslim stance.

The suspect, 26-year-old Usaama Rahim, was shot by police Tuesday morning near his home after he allegedly lunged at officers with a long military knife.

Recorded conversations and online postings indicate that Rahim was initially plotting to behead Geller, but then decided instead to attack police officers. Officials in Boston say they apprehended Rahim shortly before they believe he was to carry out his terrorist plot.

"There was some mention of that name," Police Commissioner William Evans told the "Today" show in regard to Geller as a target, adding that Rahim's intention of killing Geller was "more along the lines of wishful thinking."

According to the Associated Press, Geller wrote in an email that she isn't surprised Rahim allegedly made her a target.

"They want to make an example out of me to frighten the rest of the US into silence and submission," Geller told the media outlet.

Geller received criticism back in May when her American Freedom Defense Initiative held a cartoon drawing conference for the prophet Muhammad in Texas that ended with one security guard injured when two Islamic State sympathizers opened fire at the event.

The controversial blogger told CNN that she doesn't understand why her event would warrant an attack.

"Drawing a cartoon warrants chopping my head off? I don't understand it," Geller told CNN. "What happened to give me liberty or give me death?"
