Report: TLC May Pursue Spinoff Series with Younger Duggar Generation
Following a molestation scandal involving Josh Duggar of "19 Kids and Counting," some sources have allegedly told media outlets that they may be planning a spinoff of the TLC reality show.
27-year-old Josh Duggar recently released an apology after a years-old police report claimed that Duggar had inappropriately touched five underage girls when he was a teenager.
Josh's father, Jim Bob, who also stars on the reality show, reportedly turned his son into the Arkansas State Police when he was 18 years old.
Although TLC has not officially canceled the Duggars' "19 Kids and Counting" reality show, several sponsors of the reality show have pulled their advertising, including Walgreens, Payless Shoes and Choice Hotels.
A recent report by People magazine suggests that TLC may choose to cancel "19 Kids and Counting" and instead pursue spinoff series for newlywed couples Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald and Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard.
"The show had begun to focus more and more on the next generation of Duggars, anyway — mainly Jill and Jessa and their marriages and babies," the source told People magazine. "That's when the show got its highest ratings."
As Fox News reports, several advertisers have publically stated that they will no longer sponsor the reality show.
"In the wake of recent news, we are no longer advertising on the '19 Kids and Counting' program," Walgreens recently shared in a statement, while Pure Leaf Iced Tea tweeted, "Thank you for contacting us to share your concerns. Please know that we will no longer be advertising on '19 Kids and Counting.'"
