S.C. Sen. Lindsey Graham Announces Bid for 2016 Presidency
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham officially announced his plans to run for president in 2016 on Monday, focusing on his experience with foreign policy as a main reason why he should be elected Commander-in-Chief.
Graham announced his plans to run at a campaign kickoff event in Central, South Carolina on Monday, saying he wants to defeat global enemies and excel in foreign policy.
As CNN report, Graham's message on Monday sought to criticize the lack of foreign policy experience held by his fellow contenders from both parties, including Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
"I've got one simple message," he told supporters in his hometown. "I have more experience with our national security than any other candidate in this race. That includes you, Hillary."
"I want to be President to defeat the enemies trying to kill us, not just penalize them or criticize them or contain them, but defeat them," he added.
Graham also focused his speech on the threat of the Islamic State terror group, as the United States' strategy in defeating the militant jihadist group has recently been criticized by some politicians as being ineffective.
"Simply put, radical Islam is running wild," he said. "They have more safe havens, more money, more weapons and more capability to strike our homeland than any time since 9/11. They are large, they are rich, and they're entrenched."
"I'm afraid some Americans have grown tired of fighting them," he said. "I have bad news to share with you — the radical Islamists are not tired of fighting you."
