'Shadowhunters' season 2 episode 5 spoilers: Clary wants to bring Jocelyn back in 'Dust and Shadows'

While everybody is still reeling from the attack on the Institute, Clary (Katherine McNamara) makes a drastic decision that puts her life in danger yet again in the next episode of "Shadowhunters."

Jocelyn's (Maxim Roy) untimely death in the previous episode takes a heavy toll on Clary, who has just recovered her from captivity. They still have a lot of things to catch up on, grudges to talk about, and a brother to deal and hopefully bond with, but Fate just has to snatch all of that away. How does Clary cope with this unexpected loss? Like any other human, she does not accept it. However, unlike mundanes with no other options left but to move on, Clary makes a last-ditch effort to get her mom back.

The trailer for the next episode sees Clary attempting to resurrect her mom and Jace strongly opposing it. He tries to tell Clary to take a step back and rethink her plan because life-reversing magic could go horribly wrong.

"You never know what you're gonna get back," Jace tells his sister, who goes through with her initial plan anyway. Will she really be able to bring Jocelyn back from the dead without deadly consequences? If it's not Jocelyn who comes back, will the creature that shows up pose a greater threat to them than the smoke demon previously did?

Titled "Dust and Shadows," the episode will also show the rest of the Institute trying to recuperate from the devastating attack they have just suffered from the smoke demon that infiltrated their headquarters. Everybody has his or her own way of coping with the repercussions brought about by the aftermath of the attack, but not all of their ways may be healthy.

Also, with Camille (Kaitlyn Leeb) now contained, Simon (Alberto Rosende) goes back home to his family, only to realize that he may no longer belong there.

"Shadowhunters" season 2 episode 5 airs on Monday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m. EST on Freeform.
