The "Soul Surfer' Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack in 2003, announced with her husband Adam Dirks this week that they are expecting their first child together.

Hamilton and Dirks uploaded a video announcing their exciting news, with Hamilton saying: "We have a little surprise for you [...] baby on board!"

"She's pregnant, yes!" Dirks adds in the video.

Hamilton added in the video that she plans to continue surfing until her baby bump gets in the way. She says in the video that she and her husband are expecting a "crazy" couple of upcoming months.

"It's been a pretty crazy last four months, finding out that we're going to be parents and life's going to be changing," Hamilton, who wrote the book "Soul Surfer," tells the camera. "[We're] starting to prep for bringing a new little being into the world."

According to The Huffington Post, Hamilton added that although she often forgets she has one arm, she thinks she will be able to adapt to holding and caring for a new baby.

"I often forget that I have one arm," said Bethany, "but when I think about it -- a squirming baby and changing the diaper and just me and this squirming baby -- it could be really challenging. I think that, how I live life now, I adjust and adapt to different things [...] I think there's going to be things that will be very challenging with one arm, but I'll just have to find my own way to take care of the baby [...] I'll have to figure it out and be creative."

Hamilton, an evangelical Christian, lost her arm in a vicious 2003 shark attack on the Hawaiin island of Kauai. She recovered from the incident and went on to write the autobiography Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board.
